At this time of the year, with a chill in the air and snow on the nearby mountains, South Cathedral Farm is the perfect place to come for a delightful winter getaway!

The weather is perfect for lazy days spent inside your cosy cottage for two, doing nothing more than sitting in front of the fire with a good book, or relaxing in the spa and looking at the view.

Or for the more adventurous, rug up and get out amongst it all at nearby Lake Mountain for some cross country skiing – being the closest snow resort to Melbourne, Lake Mountain and our broader region have long been known by generations of holiday makers as the perfect place to come for some snow play.  For some downhill excitement, you can take a day trip over to Mount Buller, where you can really carve it up on the ski slopes during the day, then take in the sights of the pretty town of Mansfield on your way home.

Now that the winter rains have well and truly arrived, the local waterfalls are in full flow and looking spectacular – check out the famous Steavenson Falls (one of Victoria’s highest) on the outskirts of Marysville, as well as the many other less well-known waterfalls in the area, such as Keppel Falls, Snobs Creek Falls, and Cora Lynn Falls, just to name a few.

There are always interesting shops to browse and cafes to visit in our nearby towns of Marysville, Alexandra, and Yarck, and if you feel like being spoilt without having to leave the comfort of your cottage, book yourself in for a relaxing massage with our local mobile masseur, Gayle.

Whatever your preference, winter in our region offers much for visitors to enjoy, so book yourself in for that much needed winter escape to South Cathedral Farm 🙂
